Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum (Arabic: ; Mu’ammad bin Rshid l Maktum; born July 15, 1949) is currently serving as the vice president, prime minister, and minister of defense of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), in addition to being the ruler of Dubai. His full name is Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum. His father, Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum, was a former vice president of the UAE and the ruler of Dubai. He is the third son of Sheikh Rashid. After Maktoum’s passing in 2006, Mohammed took over as vice president and ruler of Dubai, which he had previously held in joint capacity with his brother.

Sheikha Latifa produced a number of video messages while she was being held under enforced custody in Dubai on the instructions of Sheikh Mohammed.

Mohammed is an equestrian and the creator of the Godolphin stable, which is owned by the Maktoum family. He is also the owner of Darley, which is a thoroughbred breeding organization that is active in six different nations. He won the FEI World Endurance Championship on the horse Madji Du Pont in 2012 by riding a distance of 160 kilometers (km).
